Dr. Mahathir, like the Terminator single-handedly won the war of the 14th General Election on the 9 May 2018 and rescued the country from the evil clutches of kleptocrats. On the 10th May 2018 the grand king, Yang di-Pertuan Agung, proclaimed him as the Prime Minister, the custodian and protector of this nation, Malaysia.
The nation of Malaysia inherited the great Empire of Melaka of the 15th century that started the first world economy with spice trade. It nestled strategically in the Straits of Melaka of the Melayu Archipelago, also known as Nusantara, the Middle Land, just like Mediterranean. This was and still is the most important East-West sea gateway for the world. More so it was the life line of the world greatest civilizations of India in the west and China in the east.
Dr. M, as he was also known, was 93 years old man who could easily be the great-grand father of about millions of millennials in the nation. But to these young Malaysians they needed someone to save their beloved nation from the evil rule of a kleptocrat. They have heard of the legendary Dr. M who once ruled for 22 year and made their country the greatest and respected all over the world. He was fearless and peerless; he reprimanded kings and big powers.
To the Malaysian millennials he was the cyborg in the movie, The Terminator, especially its sequel, The Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) and Terminator 3: Salvation (2003). His young admirers even photoshopped half of his face with that of the face of a cyborg that was made of steel with a piercing infra-red eye.
The millennials could be confused as the terminator was called T-800 (Model 101), who was portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1984. The cyborg T-800 was the antagonist and not the hero, protogonist. But in Judgement Day the T-101 (Roland Kickinger with CG-rendered facial likeness of Arnold Schwarzenegger) was created to become the hero. T-101 saved the earth from the invasion of cyborg armies led by T-800.
In the Judgement Day, much like in the movie, was in the middle of 2018 when the five-year term of Barisan Nasional government would expire and a fresh election had to be called. But the rebel camps in Pakatan Rakyat was in disarray after capturing Selangor, Pulau Pinang and Kelantan during the 2013 general election. The country deteriorated further with more scandals and new taxes under Barisan Nasional government. People in the rural areas barely afford daily basic foods and the middle class was trapped in between of paying many taxes without given reliefs.
Help from foreign powers were sought including from the most powerful nation on earth, USA, Australia, Singapore and Switzerland. But not even the world could bring down the government. The country was doomed. It desperately needed a saviour.
That man was Dr. M. He was recalled to save the country in early 2016. Dr. M must be in delimma. The fight would be very ugly for everybody. With his former comrades he formed a rebel camp, Bersatu. First Dr. M had to make peace with the rebel camps in PKR, DAP, Amanah and PAS who were led by people he had once prosecuted and imprisoned. In particular the de facto leader of the rebels and reformers, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, his deputy who he sacked and sent to jail in 1998 and again jailed by the Barisan Nasional government until to this day. At the same time Dr. M had to fight his second protegee, Dato Seri Muhamad Najib, the present Prime Minister.
Jusl like the cyborg, Dr. M was tireless and sharp for the great election battles that officially commenced on the 28th May 2018 when Parliament was dissolved. The whole world held their breath and pray their saviour would not drop dead in the midst of the election war. The final battle was on the 9th May 2018 when the people in the country in every camps came out to cast their votes. But the result did not come out until about 4 AM the next day.
Yes, Dr. M, the cyborg in the eyes of the millennials, led the rebel camps to victory.
Just like in the movie, the cyborg, T-800 was the antagonist but later also a cyborg, T-101 was the protogonist that resembled each other. Just like Dr. M, he was both the antoganist and protoganist in the history of the nation, Malaysia.
If this was a movie it would easily be a box-office. It received geat reviews in the New York Times, BBC and Sydney Morning Herald.
And the nation was saved from ruins and shame!
