Muhammad Izzahan Isman earned a Bachelor of Economics degree under MARA’s Young Talent Development Programme (YTP).
For many students, graduating university is already a significant achievement. But for one young Malaysian, success went far beyond earning a degree, as he not only excelled academically but also stood out in leadership and personal development on the international stage.
The inspiring story was featured in ‘MARA Trailblazer – Graduation Series’, a programme highlighting outstanding graduates sponsored by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) who achieved excellence while studying abroad.
The graduate, Muhammad Izzahan Isman, earned a Bachelor of Economics degree under MARA’s Young Talent Development Programme (YTP).
What makes his achievement even more remarkable is his background as a former tahfiz student from Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi (SBPI) Rawang, Selangor.
His success challenges the notion that a religious education limits opportunities, proving that students from such backgrounds can thrive and compete on the global stage.
Driven by a strong educational foundation and determination to broaden his horizons, Muhammad Izzahan pursued his studies at Michigan State University, where he graduated with a CGPA of 3.72.
According to MARA USA, during his time at the university, he received several prestigious recognitions, including the Spartan Difference Award – Initiative, the Green Cranium Award – Problem Solving (Honorary Recipient), and ROTC Academic Ribbons for maintaining an academic performance above 3.5.

He was actively involved in co-curricular and leadership activities, serving as a cadet in the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), a programme designed to develop discipline, leadership skills, and team management capabilities.
His commitment and performance throughout the programme earned him official recognition from Professor of Military Science Lieutenant Colonel Sisoura, who commended his professionalism and leadership development.
News of Muhammad Izzahan’s achievements has since drawn praise from many, with social media users describing him as an example of a well-rounded young Malaysian capable of balancing academic excellence, character development, and leadership.
His success not only brings pride to his family and the institutions that helped shape him, but also serves as a reminder that Malaysian youths can compete and excel internationally when given the opportunity and support to grow. SOURCE: SAYS
